Bryson Moore’s struggles in February are in the rear-view mirror. As the calendar flipped to March, the right-hander tossed six shutout innings in helping Florida State sweep The Citadel.

Moore had five strikeouts and allowed just one hit and one walk as FSU shut down The Citadel 2-0 on Sunday afternoon. The Virginia transfer had allowed five earned runs in six innings in his prior two starts, walking four batters and recording six strikeouts.

“It’s nice when you get quick outs. You get to go longer,” Moore said. “And when the defense is playing like that it’s nice. The double play was huge in the third or fourth inning. After that keep doing it, pitch to contact.”

Moore said his cut fastball was effective, a pitch he has been trying to sharpen when he takes the mound in games and in mid-week bullpen sessions with pitching coach Micah Posey. On Sunday, Moore needed just 72 pitches (49 strikes) to work six innings.

Chris Knier had four strikeouts and threw three shutout innings for the save, his first of 2026, and he tossed 43 pitches (26 strikes). Knier and Moore limited The Citadel to just a pair of singles.

FSU (8-2) recorded its first shutout of 2026 and finished off a three-game sweep of The Citadel, following up a doubleheader win on Saturday.

John Stuetzer went 3 for 4 and had a two-out double that the left fielder lost in the sun in the second inning, which allowed Eli Putnam to score and put FSU on the board 1-0 in the second inning.

The Seminoles stranded 10 runners on base on Sunday and squandered some of their best scoring opportunities, struggling to hit with runners on base or scoring position. FSU left 10 runners on base, hit 5 of 18 (.278) with runners on base and was just 1 for 8 (.125) with runners in scoring position.

“Strange conditions. The ball was not traveling at all,” FSU coach Link Jarrett said. “We actually hit some balls decent today. I know the quality of the at-bat, it’s not been good enough. We had chances to really bust that game open a little bit and did not do it. …

“The at-bats will come. We’ve seen these guys have really good at-bats against good arms. It will come. Unfortunately there wasn’t a bulk of it this weekend stacked together.”

FSU had the bases loaded with no outs in the fifth, yet earned just a Hunter Carns sacrifice fly to bring home Chase Williams and extend the lead to 2-0.

Carns went 2 for 3 with a triple for FSU, which had 10 hits.

But FSU’s pitchers were quite good on the weekend, holding The Citadel (4-5) to just three runs in 28 innings.
