TAKEAWAYS AND IMPORTANT NOTES:

Perhaps the most notable and head-scratching note is the sudden weight loss of offensive lineman Bryson Estes, who has lost the most weight on the team this summer. He also now carries a dual position notation on the roster, being labeled as both and offensive lineman and a tight end. At 6-foot-3 and 269 pounds, he would now be marginally slimmer than tight end Markeston Douglas, who stands at 6-foot-5 and 270 pounds. It’s a bit late to be thinking about a position change as a redshirt senior, so what this means for Estes (or more importantly how he will be used by Florida State) is truly up in the air.

Defensive Lineman Deante McCray is back up to 287 pounds with 13 pounds gained this summer, suggesting that he will be mostly used on the interior of the defensive line this fall.

Freshman tight end Chase Loftin has actually lost a little bit of weight this summer, though it’s marginal. Why is that important? Loftin is considered to be a pass-catching tight end primarily and is hovering just below 225 pounds. It appears that for now, Florida State is content to keep him at a weight that aids to his skillset as opposed to rushing to put weight on him.

Both prospective QB2s on the depth chart have put on good weight this offseason. Brock Glenn has gotten up to 225 pounds from the spring and ETSU transfer Jaylen King is up seven pounds at 217.

Now up eight pounds and resting at 178, Squirrel White appears to be in a good spot following an injury plagued season at Tennessee.

True freshman defensive back Zae Thomas is already up six pounds in just a few months since joining the program over the summer, sitting at 196 pounds.

True freshman Tylon Lee continues to balloon up in size. In the spring of 2024 he was 230 pounds. Now heading into the fall of 2025, Lee is 287 pounds and continuing to grow. If you had the opportunity to see him prior to his recruitment by FSU, he truly looks like a different prospect entirely.

Lucas Simmons wasn’t mentioned as a highlight above but he appears to be holding his weight gain from the spring in good fashion.

Ricky Knight putting on nearly 10 pounds is a good sign as he looks to take the next step in year two. Knight was a summer enrollee last summer and lost some of that early nutrition and conditioning.
