A day after Florida State’s baseball season wrapped up, a group of Seminoles announced they are entering the transfer portal.

Kelvyn Paulino Jr. and Noah Sheffield declared their intentions on Instagram, while Chase Williams’ decision was reported by a national media outlet.

The transfer portal in college baseball opened on June 1 and runs through June 30. Their decisions should not be viewed as final, but for now it is their intentions to play elsewhere.

Paulino started 26 of 35 games for FSU, hitting .276 with a .355 on-base percentage. The freshman had a home run, 21 RBI and 13 runs scored.

Sheffield hit .250 as he started 26 of 38 games for FSU in his second season on campus. He had a .331 on-base percentage with four home runs, 29 RBI and 26 runs scored.

Both players started but eventually were passed up by veterans. Neither Paulino nor Sheffield played down the stretch for the Seminoles, who went 40-19 and saw their season end in the regional on Monday with a loss to St. John’s.

Williams hit .269 in 42 games (34 starts) and was often used as a pinch runner. Coach Link Jarrett called him one of the more dynamic runners he’s coached. Williams stole 17 of 22 bases that he attempted, had an on-base percentage of .349 and scored 28 runs.

Coming out of junior college, Williams was drafted in the 19th round of the 2024 draft by the Los Angeles Dodgers.

FSU is expected to have a new-look roster in 2027. Among the key position players who have exhausted eligibility are Nathan Cmeyla, Ben Barrett, Eli Putnam and Carter McCulley. It should be noted that the NCAA is considering a five-for-five eligibility proposal, which would allow seniors to return to school. Players like Barrett and McCulley could add a fifth year, while Cmeyla and Putnam can not return to school.
