Florida State has capped off an excellent summer on the recruiting trail, skyrocketing its 2026 recruiting class to fringe top-10 rankings in both major recruiting services. With 22 commitments on board and more potential additions near, here is an organized look at the entire Florida State recruiting class and how they came to commit to Mike Norvell and the Seminoles coaching staff.

Chauncey Kennon

Sarasota (Fla.) Booker: No. 67 OVR, No. 8 CB per 247sports composite rankings.

Offered: May 13, 2024.

Bio: A four-star composite prospect and five-star prospect per 247sports, Kennon committed to Florida State over Florida, Miami, Georgia, Oregon and LSU on July 6. Florida State had been Kennon’s dream school growing up, but it didn’t mean that the recruitment would be an easy win. Norvell and Patrick Surtain were the drivers in Kennon’s recruitment but it was a complete staff effort to close on Kennon, who had visited campus frequently on the leadup to his official visit. He silently committed to the Noles on that visit prior to his announcement on July 6.

Earnest Rankins

Decatur (Ga.) Southwest Dekalb: No. 117 OVR, No. 14 DL per 247sports composite rankings.

Offered: January 27, 2025.

Bio: A consensus four-star prospect, Rankins committed to Florida State over Auburn on July 2. The Seminoles first offered Rankins in January 2025 but did not truly get involved with Rankins until defensive line coach Terrance Knighton visited his high school during the spring and scheduled an official visit with him. Rankins’ visit was his first time on campus and it was enough for FSU to eventually leapfrog Auburn in the pecking order of his recruitment.

Devin Carter

Douglasville (Ga.) Douglas County: No. 120 OVR, No. 17 WR per 247sports composite rankings.

Offered: July 30, 2022.

Bio: Carter’s recruitment by Florida State has seen many twists and turns before flipping from Auburn on June 23. Carter had previously been in the class as a freshman for roughly eight months before decommitting as his recruitment took off. Carter committed to Auburn in January but a rollover of coaching staff and a new offense saw Carter return to FSU’s campus multiple times during the spring. The Seminoles built momentum during his official visit and Carter rejoined the class he left as a freshman, as he flipped back to Norvell.

Xavier Tiller

Fairburn (Ga.) Langston Hughes: No. 204 OVR, No. 11 TE per 247sports composite rankings.

Offered: January 17, 2024.

Bio: Previously committed to Texas A&M, Tiller is a four-star composite prospect and one of Florida State’s more impressive wins on the recruiting trail this summer. Tiller committed to Florida State on June 23, choosing the Seminoles over Auburn and Alabama. Auburn had been the perceived leader for Tiller since he decommitted from the Aggies in January but they were unable to close as Florida State knocked his official visit in Tallahassee out of the park and secured his commitment.

Jay Timmons

Gibsonia (PA.) Pine Richland: No. 405 OVR, No. 32 CB per 247sports composite rankings.

Offered: June 1st, 2025.

Bio: The son of former FSU linebacker Lawrence Timmons, Jay had been committed to Indiana since April. A visit to Tallahassee for the Elite Camp at the beginning of June was a pivotal day in his recruitment, as he impressed during the workout and left with an offer from the Seminoles. A return official visit was planned and Timmons flipped his commitment shortly after visiting Tallahassee on June 24.

Brandon Bennett

Plantation (Fla.) American Heritage: No. 218 OVR, No. 33 WR per 247sports composite rankings.

Offered: May 8th, 2023.

Bio: The Patrick Surtain / American Heritage pipeline continues to be a valuable asset for Florida State, as the connection between Surtain and Bennett played a major role in the four-star committing to Florida State over Florida and Georgia on June 12. Wide receivers coach Tim Harris Jr. and Bennett had also had a previous relationship that aided in the Seminoles winning this recruitment. A visit during the spring where Bennett got to see Gus Malzahn’s “explosive” offense set the Seminoles up in a good position and they rode that momentum to a commitment following his official visit.

Efrem White

Vero Beach (Fla.) High: No. 210 OVR, No. 13 ATH per 247sports composite rankings.

Offered: January 21, 2023.

Bio: White has been committed to Mike Norvell since December 2023 and while White did entertain North Carolina State on an official visit this summer, Florida State has been able to retain his commitment heading into the fall. White has played quarterback, cornerback and wide receiver throughout his time at Vero Beach and he projects to be most likely a wide receiver at Florida State.

James Carrington

Irvine (Ca.) Crean Lutheran: No. 360 OVR, No. 41 DL per 247sports composite rankings.

Offered: March 18th, 2023.

Bio: In one of the more fascinating commitments of the class thus far, Carrington had not stepped foot on Florida State’s since October 2023 prior to showing up on an official visit to Florida State in June. Previously considered to be among the top prospects in the class as a standout freshman, Carrington had seen a stall in his recruitment and changed high schools multiple times during his sophomore and junior seasons. Florida State pounced and earned his commitment over Nebraska, as he committed to Florida State shortly after his official visit concluded on June 16.

Jaden O’Neal

Mustang (Okla.) High: No. 205 OVR, No. 14 QB per 247sports composite rankings.

Offered: February 6, 2024.

Bio: A composite four-star, O’Neal had camped at Florida State during the summer of 2024 after being offered in February of that same year. However, Florida State took the commitment of Brady Smigiel and O’Neal committed to Oklahoma around the same time. After Smigiel’s decommitment, O’Neal was one of the quarterbacks that FSU circled back on. With growing discomfort as Oklahoma pursued a second quarterback in the class, O’Neal began evaluating other options. Florida State proved to be the best option, as O’Neal decommitted and promptly committed to Norvell and quarterbacks coach Tony Tokarz a week removed from his official visit to Tallahassee.

Jasen Lopez

Hollywood (Fla.) Chaminade Madonna: No. 252 OVR, No. 43 WR per 247sports composite rankings.

Offered: March 19, 2025.

Bio: Despite not being able to get Lopez on campus prior to his official visit in June, there had been significant interest between Lopez and Florida State for months leading up to the visit. A true dual-sport athlete, Lopez plans to play football and basketball at the collegiate level and that factored heavily into Florida State’s victory in his recruitment. The Seminoles beat out Miami and others for Lopez, as the composite four-star committed to Florida State on June 26. Now, Florida State will have to hold onto the coveted playmaker.

Tico Crittendon Jr.

Lithonia (Ga.) High: No. 338 OVR, No. 40 DL per 247sports composite rankings.

Offered: March 27, 2025.

Bio: Another prospect in which his first visit to Tallahassee was his official visit, Crittendon Jr. committed to Florida State shortly before leaving his official visit to Florida State on June 17. Defensive line coach Terrance Knighton’s visit with Crittendon in the spring spurred the Seminoles in his recruitment and got him on campus for the official visit, where he silently committed. He chose Florida State over Tennessee, Texas Tech and Georgia.

Sean Johnson

Severn (Md.) Archbishop Spalding: No. 557 OVR, No. 46 CB per 247sports composite rankings.

Offered: January 23, 2025.

Bio: Evaluated and identified during the winter by safeties coach Evan Cooper, Johnson visited Florida State during the spring for an unofficial visit, where he saw enough for him to make an early commitment less than a month later. Johnson promptly cancelled other official visits and only took his official visit to Tallahassee, where he told reporters that he had shut down his recruitment.

Tedarius Hughes

Miami (Fla.) Northwestern: No. 314 OVR, No. 26 safety per 247sports composite rankings.

Offered: April 10th, 2024.

Bio: One of the earliest commitments to Mike Norvell’s 2026 recruiting class, Hughes committed to Florida State on July 4, 2024 — just a few days removed from camping with the Seminoles during an elite camp. Hughes has remained committed to the Seminoles but has not shut down his recruitment yet, as Nebraska, Syracuse and Colorado are pushing to flip Hughes in the fall.

Darryl Bell III

Hialeah (Fla.) Barbara Goleman: No. 332 OVR, No. 28 safety per 247sports composite rankings.

Offered: May 5, 2023.

Bio: The first member of the 2026 class, Bell committed to Florida State in December 2023 and has seen that commitment through thus far. Florida State had to fight off multiple SEC programs including Auburn and Alabama during the spring, as Bell saw increased interest since his initial pledge. But FSU has held on to their earliest commitment and will continue to battle until signing day.

Amari Thomas

Blountstown (Fla.): No. 326 OVR, No. 21 RB per 247sports composite rankings.

Offered: March 9th, 2024.

Bio: A priority running back target, Thomas took back-to-back trips to campus in consecutive weeks for junior days in January that preceded an early commitment a few days later. Thomas has been on campus frequently since then but South Carolina has come on strong during the summer and is the primary threat to flip Thomas. FSU still has defense yet to play for its prized running back commit.

Wihtlley Cadeau

Atlanta (Ga.) Booker T. Washington: No. 1534 OVR. No. 162 DL per 247sports composite rankings.

Offered: May 15th, 2025.

Bio: A late offer in May, Cadeau was evaluated by Terrance Knighton and was offered by the Seminoles as his recruitment saw an uptick in the spring. Cadeau was brought in on an official visit in June where he committed just after leaving campus on June 8. Cadeau committed to Florida State primarily over Purdue, but also over offers from South Carolina, Florida, Mississippi State, and Georgia.

Jakobe Green

Quincy (Fla.) Gadsden County: No. 580 OVR, No. 51 IOL per 247sports composite rankings.

Offered: May 21, 2025.

Bio: Green had shown extensive interest in Florida State, as he is a local product, but it took a while for the Seminoles to offer Green. Green had previously committed to Mississippi State during a junior day visit in February, but once Florida State offered it changed everything. Green took official visits to both programs and flipped his commitment to Florida State on June 24.

Darryon Williams

Tampa (Fla.) Plant: No. 335 OVR, No. 20 ATH per 247sports composite rankings.

Offered: March 28, 2024.

Bio: Williams committed to Florida State a few weeks after being personally offered by Mike Norvell. Over a year after that pledge, multiple teams made a run at flipping Williams away from FSU — in-state rival Florida got the closest — at one point being neck and neck with the Seminoles. But for one reason or another, Williams decided to stick with Florida State and shut down his recruitment following his official visit.

Karon Maycock

Miami (Fla.) Central: No. 472 OVR, No. 32 LB per 247sports composite rankings.

Offered: May 18th, 2023.

Bio: A definitive early win for Florida State with the 2026 class was snatching Maycock from rival Miami’s backyard with an early commitment in February. Maycock continued to be pursued by programs throughout the spring and into the summer but, after taking official visits to Florida, Syracuse and Alabama, he is sticking with his Florida State pledge.

Noah LaVallee

Marietta (Ga.) Walton: No. 1458 OVR, No. 129 LB per 247sports composite rankings.

Offered: April 6th, 2024.

Bio: The younger brother of current FSU linebacker Caleb LaVallee, Florida State was recruiting Noah far before Caleb joined the program. That proved crucial in LaVallee’s recruitment as he committed to Florida State over Ole Miss after taking official visits to both programs.

Michael Ionata

Clearwater (Fla.) Calvary Christian: No. 1054 OVR, No. 86 IOL per 247sports composite rankings.

Offered: June 6th, 2024.

Bio: The son of former FSU offensive lineman Joe Ionata, Ionata committed to Florida State following an unofficial visit for Legacy Weekend in March. There has been little competition for Ionata, as the legacy has shut down his recruitment barring any crazy circumstances.

Luke Francis

Miami (Fla.) Coral Gables: No. 1549 OVR, No. 128 IOL per 247sports composite rankings.

Offered: June 18, 2025.

Bio: Francis camped with Florida State on June 18 for a Big Man Camp and the coaching staff loved what they saw from Francis, who is originally from the United Kingdom. The offer led to a quick return for an official visit the following weekend, where Francis committed to Florida State over offers from Georgia State and Syracuse.
