Winston, Travis, Howell, Pak among FSU’s graduates

Florida State’s spring commencement ceremonies included a Heisman Trophy winner, a two-time national champion soccer player and the nation’s top golfer from 2021.

Jameis Winston completed his coursework and joined FSU’s current starting quarterback, Jordan Travis, as well as Jaelin Howell and Jon Pak. Winston, Travis and Pak were among the 70 student-athletes who walked, while Howell is now playing in the NWSL.

“Our student-athletes have the goal of obtaining their degree set in front of them from the moment they are recruited,” FSU athletics director Michael Alford said. “It is an absolute priority for us. I’ve said it before, but we want them walking across that stage with a diploma in one hand and a ring on the other. Of all the opportunities that intercollegiate athletics offers, education is the most valuable part of being a student-athlete.”

FSU has promoted a number of its graduates on social media, including women’s golf star Beatrice Wallin. FSU basketball center Tanor Ngom also has graduated.

Florida State’s student-athletes are having an outstanding year academically as they have already won 60 individual academic awards including the ACC Scholar Athletes of the Year in women’s soccer, men’s cross country, men’s indoor track & field, and beach volleyball.
