Left tackle Jauan Williams will not play for Florida State on Saturday at Virginia due to a sprained ankle, coach Willie Taggart confirmed on Thursday.
Abdul Bello, who has been inconsistent in his college career as a blocker, will start for the Seminoles. Bello filled in for Williams, who was injured on the second drive of FSU’s win over ULM.
FSU does not list a definitive starter at one linebacker spot, with Emmett Rice, Dontavious Jackson and Jaleel McRae designated as options and separated by the word “or.”
There’s also uncertainty about who will start at one safety spot as Cyrus Fagan, Levonta Taylor and Akeem Dent are separate by “or.” Taggart said earlier in the week that Taylor is eligible but the senior did not play against ULM.
Guard Cole Minshew is “getting into football shape,” Taggart said. Minshew had neck surgery in the offseason.
Running back Anthony Grant will not travel to Virginia but has returned to the football team.
Defensive back Travis Jay remains out.
