Redshirt sophomore defensive tackle Dennis Briggs opted out of the 2020 season in August due to concerns over Covid-19. He wasn't expected to start with the return of Marvin Wilson, Cory Durden and Robert Cooper but was expected to compete with Tru Thompson, Fabien Lovett, Jarrett Jackson and Malcom Ray for a spot in the Seminoles' rotation at the defensive tackle spot.
Because of the perceived depth at that spot Briggs' absence had gone largely unnoticed this fall. That was until Saturday night in pre-game warmups when Briggs was spotted in uniform warming up . . .
