FSU hoops hits pause again, postpones next three games

The ACC announced late Monday night that Florida State’s next three games – at Boston College, at Pittsburgh and at Virginia Tech – have been postponed. This impacts games set to be played on Tuesday through Feb. 9.

The postponement follows a positive test, subsequent quarantining, and contact tracing within the Florida State men’s basketball program.

FSU (10-3, 6-2 ACC) is not scheduled to return to the court until a Feb. 13 home game against Wake Forest at noon.

Earlier in the day, FSU coach Leonard Hamilton spoke with the ACC media on a Zoom call. He said guard Anthony Polite, who has a shoulder injury, was expected to miss the scheduled game at BC on Tuesday. “I’m not going to rush the injury,” Hamilton said. “Whenever he’s ready.”

BC was also attempting to play Tuesday’s game with just four scholarship players and a group of scout-team players.

Gray hot in January

RaiQuan Gray’s performance in January was nothing short of impressive. He had two 19-point games and is averaging 13.8 points per game as the Seminoles went 5-1.

Rebounding edge

FSU showed significant improvement on the boards in January, too. FSU won the rebounding battle in five games and tied Louisville in the other game. The Seminoles were +22 (Miami) and +13 (NC State) vs. short-handed teams as well as +9 vs. Clemson and +6 vs. Georgia Tech.
