The Florida Finals Class 1A state championship between Madison County and Blountstown will be held on Saturday at 7 p.m. at Gene Cox Stadium in Tallahassee.

Here’s a closer look at the two teams. Madison County OL Zane Herring has made a verbal commitment to Florida State.

Class 1A

Madison County

Offense

QB – Vinsonta Allen – QB – 5’9-180 (1,366 Yards – 22 TD’s – 5 Int)

RB – Vinsonta Allen – RB – 5’9-190 (1,178 Yards- 18 TDs)

DB-Chalon Howard – 59 Tackles

Comments: Madison County has one of the bigger offensive lines you will see in Class 1A. They are led by Zane Herring, who is 6’5, 300 pounds. The senior offensive lineman has had an impact on Madison County’s past two state championship runs. Madison County will be attempting to win its third straight championship tonight. Herring is a guy that can line up and run behind. Madison County also has Jayden Roberson, Tay Culthbertson, Zac Coe and Jabarrek Hopkins, who average about 260-270 pounds. The beneficiary of the offensive line has been Vinsonta Allen. He is the leading rusher or passer for Madison County. As he goes, so does the Cowboys offense.

On defense, Chalon Howard leads the team in tackles. He has been a starter on the past two Madison County state title teams. He gives them size and range on the defensive side of the football. Madison County will always have an undersized defense but they can run to the football.

Blountstown

Offense

QB – Logan Pumphrey – 749 Yards Passing / 1 TD

RB – Trevin Smith – 1,585 Yards – 17 Rushing TD / 9 Receiving TD

WR – Pola McCloud – 163 Yards – 3 TD / Alex Valdez- 140 Yards / 2 TD

Defense

LB – Brent McCrone – 6’0-170 – 103 Tackles

DT – Joseph Rector – 6’1-220 – 81 Tackles

Comments: Blountstown has been here before. They have had their opportunities to win over the past 10 years. This may the best chance. They rely on a run game that is led by Trevin Smith. He has rushed for over 1,500 yards this season and has 17 rushing touchdowns.

On defense Bloutstown will lean on Brent McCrone. He had over 100 tackles this year. Not to be outdone is the performance of Joseph Rector, who recorded over 80 tackles on the defensive line. If Blountstown is going to pull off the upset it will need their defense to show up big time.
