Over the past few seasons Chaminade is one of the premier programs in Florida. Chaminade is the defending state Championships after beating Kings Academy.
Chaminade faces Tallahassee Florida High, who may be the toughest opponent that Chaminade has faced in the state title the past few seasons. Florida High is led by a talented athlete in quarterback Willie Taggart Jr. They also have a big-time talent in Ahmari Harvey. He is a gifted two-way star who already holds offers from some of the premier programs in college football.
Class 3A
Chaminade Madonna
Offense
Brady Kelly – QB-6’1-190
Thaddius Franklin – RB- 1,949 (Yards) 9 TD
Elijah Canion – WR – 6’4-205 (32 Catches / 566 Yards-3 TD)
Joshua Jenkins – WR – 5’7-155 (258 Yards – 5 TD)
Defense
Jamaal Johnson – DE – 6’2-250 (8 Sacks)
Torrie Cox – CB – 5’9-170
Kenyatta Jackson – DE – 6’5-220 (9 Sacks)
Comments: Elijah Canion was a prospect that FSU offered as a junior. He showed some early interest but decided to commit to Auburn University. He gives you a receiver with a nice combination of size and speed. He is a player that can stretch the field or make the difficult catch across the middle of the field. He allows Chaminade to open up their run game.
Another player to keep an eye on is Thaddius Franklin, who may be the top running back in Florida. On his first carry against Clearwater Central Catholic, he went 85 yards for a touchdown. He is a big, powerful back that can go the distance anywhere on the field. He is currently committed to University of Miami but will end up being heavily courted during spring football.
On defense Jamaal Johnson and Kenyatta Jackson both set the tone. They are very good at setting the edge on defense. Jackson is only a sophomore and should be one of the premier pass rushers over the next two years. He has the size and length you want from a defensive end prospect.
Florida High
Offense
QB –Willie Taggart Jr. – 6’2-175
Ath.-Alfred Menjor’s – 5’10-180
Defense
DB Ahmari Harvey – 6’1-175
Comments: If the name sounds familiar it should. Willie Taggart Jr. is the son of the former FSU football coach. Taggart Jr. is a prospect that is more of an athlete than a traditional quarterback. He had over 2,000 yards passing, 19 touchdowns and eight interceptions. He also contributed with 839 rushing yards and 10 rushing touchdowns. He is a big part of the success of Florida State University School’s offense.
Another important prospect for Florida High is athlete Alfred Menjor. He accounted for 1,295 yards rushing (average of 7.5 yards per rush). He is going to be a big part of the game plan as Florida High will try and keep the football away from Chaminade’s explosive offense.
On defense Ahmari Harvey will be the player to keep an eye on. He will be a major recruiting priority for college coaches next season. He is Florida High’s best prospect over the past 10 years. The talented defensive back has the size and athletic ability you want. Harvey has already been offered by FSU. The Seminoles are looking to get an early commitment from Harvey.
