Florida State senior defensive analyst Randy Shannon will earn $45,000 annually ($1,724.14 biweekly) on a contract that runs through Jan. 31, 2022.
Shannon’s salary and one-page contract was released to the media on Wednesday as part of a public records request.
FSU announced Shannon’s hire on Monday. The 55-year-old Shannon will serve in an off-field role for the Seminoles and coach Mike Norvell but will be able to use his extensive recruiting ties to connect with prospects and high school coaches in Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties as well as advise the defensive coaches.
“He is a class human being and I think an incredible coach in all aspects of what he does,” Norvell said on Tuesday evening. “We talked about the fit, we talked about you’re looking for, whether it’s in recruiting or hiring coaches, and I believe Randy Shannon is an is an incredible fit for our staff.”
Shannon will not be able to travel off-campus for recruiting but can talk to prospects by phone and perhaps encourage them to a summer FSU camp, if the staff is able to hold one in June or July (presuming the NCAA-mandated dead period is lifted).
