Seminole Sidelines: Kirk Carruthers talks FSU football past, present

In this week’s edition of the Osceola’s Seminole Sidelines Podcast, former FSU linebacker Kirk Carruthers joins Pat Burnham, Jerry Kutz and Charles Fishbein to share his thoughts on the 2021 Seminoles after attending the team’s first spring practice in full pads. Kirk also talks the evolution of linebacker play since his days as a player, which players stood out to him, Mike Norvell, the importance of proving yourself as a player during spring practice, why he chose FSU coming out of high school, trying to tackle Deion Sanders, fatherhood and his professional life.

We also talk about our observations from Thursday’s practice, the team’s fifth of the spring, and the announcement that quarterback Chubba Purdy will be held out of the remainder of spring practice as he continues to come back from a collarbone injury that required two operations last season.

Fish offers his thoughts on the commitment of 2022 WR Devaughn Mortimer and we also discuss the NCAA men’s basketball tournament and the baseball team’s win over Florida earlier this week as they prepare for the start of their three-game series this weekend against 6th-ranked Miami in Coral Gables.
