Robbins’ late goal gives FSU season-opening win

Clara Robbins scored in the 88th minute, knocking in a rebound off the Texas A&M keeper as No. 1 Florida State took a 1-0 victory over the No. 9 Aggies in the season opener on Thursday night.

“They had a couple of good looks at our goal but fortunately we persevered and fought hard and took advantage of the one chance that ended up in the back of the net,” said coach Mark Krikorian.

FSU dominated possession of the ball throughout the game holding on to it for 73 percent of the first half and 69 percent of the game.

The Seminoles are 16-1-0 on opening day under Krikorian, including a 10-0-0 record at the Seminole Soccer Complex.

Robbins had six goals and six assists in the split 2020-21 season.
