Recruiting notes: ‘Noles busy offering 2022 prospects

Its been a busy last week for FSU on the recruiting trail. At least a dozen recruits from the 2021 and ’22 classes have announced they have received scholarship offers from the Seminoles via social media.

2021 athlete Dylan Simmons announced Sunday on Twitter that he has received an offer from the Seminoles. Simmons, who is 5-foot-11 and 168 pounds, has played multiple positions on both sides of the ball at Metairie (La.) Park Country Day HS. He is reported to also have an offer from Colorado. Simmons would be considered an under-the radar prospect as he currently doesn’t have a ranking by 247Sports or Rivals.

There were also a host of 2022 prospects claiming offers from FSU over the last week, including two of the most highly rated athletes in the country.

Keon Sabb, 6-2 and 196 pounds, announced on Twitter that he has been offered by the Seminoles. Sabb is from Williamstown (NJ) High School and is rated as a four-star recruit by 247Sports, who also has him ranked as the No. 1 “athlete” for the class of 2022, the fourth best overall prospect in the country and the best player in New Jersey. He is also reported to have offers from Florida, Georgia, Nebraska, Penn State, Pitt and Texas A&M among others.

Jacoby Mathews, 6-0 and 186 pounds, announced via social media that he has an FSU offer. Mathews is rated as a four-star prospect by 247Sports, who also has him ranked as the 12th best safety prospect in the nation for 2022 and the seventh-best overall prospect form the state of Louisiana, where he attends Ponchatoula High. He is also reported to have offers from Alabama, Arkansas, LSU and Memphis.

Malaki Starks also announced on Twitter that he has received an offer from FSU. Starks, 6-2 and 190, is a rising junior at Jefferson (Ga.) High School. He is rated as a four-star prospect by 247Sports, who also has him ranked as the 13th-best “athlete” for the class of 2022, the 149th best overall prospect in the country and the 13th best overall prospect in Georgia. His list of offers is reported to include Alabama, Florida, LSU, South Carolina and Georgia.

CJ Hicks from Dayton (OH) Archbishop Alter announced he has on offer from FSU via social media. Hicks, 6-4 and 215 pounds, has played both running back and safety in high school and is ranked as the 15th best “athlete” in the country for the class of 2022 by 247Sports. They rate him as a four-star prospect, the third-best overall prospect from the state of Ohio and the 162nd-best overall prospect in the country. Hicks is reported to also have offers from Ohio State, Notre Dame, Miami, Iowa and Michigan among others.

Wide receiver prospect Kojo Antwi announced he has an offer from FSU on Twitter. Antwi, 6-1 and 185, is rated as a four-star prospect by 247Sports, which has him ranked as the 15th best overall prospect in the state of Georgia and the 32nd-best WR prospect in the country. The Suwannee (Ga.) Lambert High rising junior is also reported to have offers from Georgia Tech, Minnesota, Nebraska, Ole Miss and South Carolina among others.

Cornerback prospect Earl Little Jr. from Ft. Lauderdale (Fla.) American Heritage announced he has an offer from the Seminoles. Little, 6-foot and 165 pounds, is rated as a four-star prospect by 247Sports who also have him ranked as the 20th-best CB prospect in the nation for the class of 2022 and the 21st-best overall prospect in Florida. He is also reported to have offers from Miami (where his father Earl Sr. played), Florida, Penn State, LSU, Georgia, Alabama and Oklahoma among others.

Wide receiver prospect Caleb Burton also announced he has an offer from FSU. Burton, 6-0 and 165 pounds, is also rated as a four-star prospect by 247Sports, which has him ranked as the 37th best overall prospect in the nation for 2022, the sixth-best WR in the country and the fourth best overall prospect from the state of Texas. His list of offers is reported to include Alabama, Georgia, Oklahoma, Stanford, LSU, Texas and Ohio State among others. Burton attends Del Valle (TX) High School.

Another Texas prospect who recently announced an offer from FSU is Brenen Thompson from Spearman (TX) High School. Thompson, 5-10 and 165 pounds, is rated as a four-star prospect by 247Sports, which also has him ranked as the 26th best “athlete” in the country and the 28th best overall prospect from the Lone Star State for the class of 2022. He is also reported to have offers from Texas, TCU, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Alabama, Baylor and Auburn among others.

The list of 2022 prospects to claim offers from FSU over the last week also includes wide receiver Amorion Walker from Ponchatoula (La.) High School, offensive tackle Jonathan Cole from Fort Myers (Fla.) Dunbar High School and wide receiver Jaylen Ward from Birmingham (Ala.) Spain Park High School.

Walker, 6-3 and 190 pounds, is reported to have offers from Kansas State, Louisiana Tech, Memphis and Southern Miss. Cole, 6-3 and 280, is reported to have offers from FAU, Southern Miss, Marshall and Rutgers. Ward, 6-2 and 190 pounds, is reported to have offers from FAU and Georgia Tech. Neither of the three are currently ranked by 247Sports.
