Recruiting: FSU makes cut for ’22 DT prospect, new offers out

FSU head coach Mike Norvell and his staff have been plugging right along on the recruiting trail over the last week and half since the end of spring practice. The Seminoles have extended offers to no fewer than 13 prospects from the classes of 2022, ’23 and ’24 since April 12. Norvell also learned that the Seminoles are among the final 12 schools that 2022 DT prospect Caden Curry will consider as he moves forward in his recruiting process.

Here are the latest updates and offers for FSU for the classes of 2022, ’23 and ’24:

2022 Offers and Updates

DT Caden Curry (6-5, 250), Greenwood (Ind.) Center Grove High School

Curry announced on April 19 that he has narrowed his list of potential college homes to 12 schools. FSU is among the finalist along with Alabama, Arizona State, Clemson, Florida, Indiana, Michigan, Notre Dame, Oregon, Ohio State, Tennessee and Southern Cal. The rising senior is rated as a four-star prospect by 247Sports, which also ranks him as the 8th-best defensive tackle prospect in the country. Curry made 164 combined tackles in his sophomore and junior seasons, including 13 sacks and 38 tackles for a loss.

DE Micheal Ibukun-Okeyode (6-4, 220), Rowlett (Texas) High School

Ibukun-Okeyode reported receiving his offer from FSU on April 12. The rising senior has also reported receiving offers from a list of schools that includes Baylor, Ole Miss, Boston College, Virginia Tech, Purdue and Houston since the beginning of the year. Oklahoma State, SMU, Kansas State and Arizona State have also been reported to offer Ibukun-Okeyode, who is rated as a three-star prospect by 247Sports, which also ranks him as the 35th-best WDE prospect in the country for the 2023 recruiting class and the 103rd-best overall prospect from Texas.

DT Hero Kanu (6-5, 290), Rancho Santa Margarita (Calif.) Catholic High School

Kanu reported receiving his offer from FSU on April 18. The rising senior has seen his recruiting profile grow substantially over the last month, with his list of reported offers over the last 30 days consisting of Oklahoma, UCLA, Florida, Ohio State, Oregon, LSU, Clemson, Texas and Texas A&M. Kanu is considered a four-star prospect by 247Sports, which ranks him as the 24th-best DT prospect in the country for the class of 2022.

S Peyton Williams (6-1, 180), Rockwall (Texas) Heath High School

Williams reported receiving his offer from FSU on April 19th. The rising senior has also seen his offer list grow substantially this month. Stanford, South Carolina, Houston, Utah, Maryland, La. Tech and Washington State have all offered the rising senior in the last three weeks. He also holds offers from Michigan State, Ole Miss and Pitt. Williams is unranked and unrated by 247Sports.

2023 Offers

FS/OLB Tackett Curtis (6-2, 205), Many (La.) High School

Tackett reported receiving his offer from FSU on April 16. The rising junior has also reported picking up offers from Florida, Vandy, South Carolina, LSU, Illinois, Georgia Tech, Miami, Iowa State, Auburn, Michigan, Penn State and Texas A&M over the last 30 days. He is considered a four-star prospect by 247Sports, which also ranks him as the 3rd-best OLB prospect in the class of 2023 and the 5th-best overall prospect from Louisiana.

RB Kaleb Jackson (5-11, 200), Baton Rouge (La.) Liberty Magnet High School

Jackson reported receiving his offer from FSU on April 13. Houston and Tulane have also reportedly offered the rising junior. Jackson is unranked and unrated by 247Sports.

S Jamel Johnson (6-1, 175), Arlington (Texas) Sequin High School

Johnson reported receiving his offer from FSU on April 14. The rising junior has also reported receiving offers from a group of schools that includes Baylor, LSU, Virginia Tech, Texas, Texas A&M, Miami, Penn State, Oklahoma, Texas and Southern Cal over the last several months. He is considered a four-star prospect by 247Sports, which also ranks him as the 8th-best safety prospect in the class of 2023 and the 15th-best overall prospect from Texas.

OT Roderick Kearney (6-4, 265), Orange Park (Fla.) High School

Kearney reported receiving an offer from FSU on April 20. The rising junior had received offers from Miami and UCF prior to the Seminoles offers. He is unranked and unrated by 247Sports.

CB Jordan Matthews (6-2, 175), Baton Rouge (La.) Woodlawn High School

Matthews reported receiving his offer from FSU on April 18. The rising junior has also reported offers from. He has also reported picking up offers from Ole Miss, Virginia, ULM and FAU since the beginning of the year. The rising junior is rated as a four-star prospect by 247Sports, which also ranks him the 22nd-best CB prospect in the class of 2023 and the 7th-best overall prospect from Louisiana.

CB Curley Reed (6-1, 180), Lake Charles (La.) College Prep High School

Reed reported receiving his offer from FSU on April 15. The rising junior has also reported offers from SMU, Grambling, Colorado, Arizona State, Mississippi State and Memphis since the beginning of the year. He is rated as a three-star prospect by 247Sports, which also ranks him as the 31st-best CB prospect in the class of 2023 and the 9th-best overall prospect from Louisiana.

S Sonny Styles (6-4, 205), Pickerington (Oh.) Central High School

Styles reported his offer from FSU on April 16. The rising junior is also reported to have offers from Ohio State, Penn State, Northwestern, Notre Dame, North Carolina, Michigan and LSU among others. He is rated as a five-star prospect by 247Sports, which also ranks him as the top safety prospect in the nation for 2023.
