Recruiting: FSU in top 4 for ’22 QB

News around the FSU football program over the last several days has been quarterback-centric. On Friday transfer quarterback McKenzie Milton met with the media for the first time since arriving in Tallahassee but he wasn’t the only signal-caller making headlines in Tallahassee.

Class of 2022 quarterback prospect Nicco Marchiol from Chandler (Ariz.) Hamilton High announced the left-hander has narrowed his list of college destinations down to four schools. Those four schools are FSU, Arizona State, Florida and Rutgers.

Marchiol, who is 6-foot-2 and 216 pounds, is rated as a four-star prospect and ranked as the No. 9 pro-style quarterback in the country in the class of 2022 by 247Sports, which also considers him the 2nd-best overall prospect from Arizona. His list of offers also includes Arizona, Colorado, FAU, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Michigan, Penn State and Utah (among others).

As a junior in 2020 Marchiol threw for 1,417 yards while completing 69 percent of his passes. In his first three seasons in high school he has appeared in 31 games and thrown for 5,620 yards, 54 touchdowns and 22 interceptions. He has also rushed for 932 yards on 255 carries in his career.

New 2022 Offers

ATH Barion Brown (6-1, 160), Nashville (Tenn.) Pearl-Cohn

Brown announced on Friday afternoon that he had received an offer from FSU assistant coach David Johnson. 247Sports has Brown rated as a four-star prospect by 247Sports, which also has him ranked as the 13th-best prospect for the class of 2022. He is classified as an Athlete. They also rank him as the 7th-best overall prospect from Tennessee.

He is also reported to have picked up offers from Alabama, Mississippi State, TCU, Oregon and Virginia Tech within the last two weeks.

Brown caught 28 passes for 596 yards and seven touchdowns in eight games during the 2020 season.

RB Le’Veon Moss (5-11, 182), Baton Rouge (La.) Istrouma Senior

Moss announced his FSU offer on Thursday. He is rated as a four-star prospect by 247Sports and is ranked as the 5th-best running back in the country for 2022. Moss is also ranked as the 6th-best overall prospect in Louisiana.

Others schools that Moss is reported to have offers from include Alabama, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Miami, Tennessee and Texas A&M.

New 2023 Offers

WR Makai Donaldson (6-4, 200), New Orleans (La.) Isidore Newman HS

Donaldson announced his offer via Twitter. He is currently unranked and unrated by 247Sports. He is also reported to have another offer from Virginia.
