Recruiting: FSU among leaders for two 2022 prospects, more offers out

Florida State learned on Monday that it is among the leaders in the recruitment of two out-of-state defensive players. The two prospects, DT Tygee Hill and LB Shemar James, both announced via Twitter that they had narrowed their list of potential college homes and the Seminoles are still very much involved in the process. Mike Norvell and his staff also continued to offer more prospect over the last few days.

2022 Updates

DT Tygee Hill (6-2, 280) – New Orleans (La.) Edna Karr

We profiled and evaluated Hill’s potential in an Osceola article on Feb. 15. The rising senior announced on Monday afternoon that he had narrowed his list of potential college homes to FSU, Florida, Georgia, Texas, Miami, LSU, Alabama, Michigan State, Jackson State and Mississippi State. Hill is rated as a four-star prospect by 247Sports and they also have him ranked as the 17th-best defensive tackle prospect in the country and 11th-best overall prospect in Louisiana for the class of 2022.

LB Shemar James (6-3, 200) – Mobile (Ala.) Faith Academy

James also announced that he had narrowed his list of potential college homes to eight schools. The rising senior has FSU, Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Florida, Michigan, Texas A&M and Georgia as the leaders in his recruitment. James is considered a four-star prospect by 247Sports and they also rank him as the 11th-best athlete in the country for the 2022 recruiting class, the 8th-best overall prospect in Louisiana and the 157th-best overall prospect in the country.

2022 Offers

WR Nicholas Anderson (6-4, 190) – Katy (Texas) HS

Anderson announced his FSU on Monday afternoon via Twitter. He is also reported to have offers from Maryland, Cal, Georgia Tech, Stanford, Michigan, Colorado, Texas and TCU among others. 247Sports has the rising senior rated as a three-star prospect and also have him ranked as the 62nd-best wide receiver prospect in the country for 2022 and the 56th-best overall prospect from Texas. As a junior this past fall he has 29 catches for 450 yards and five touchdowns in 12 games.

WR Antonio Williams (6-0, 180) – Irmo (S.C.) Dutch Fork

Williams announced his FSU offer on Monday afternoon via Twitter. The rising junior is reported to have more than two dozen offers. That list includes South Carolina, Auburn, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisville, Michigan, Notre Dame, Tennessee and Southern Cal. Williams has yet to be rated or ranked by 247Sports. As a junior Williams caught 51 passes for 858 yards and eight touchdowns.

2023 Offers

LB Rual Aguirre (6-1, 215)-Locust Grove (Ga.) Cedar Grove HS

Aguirre announced his FSU offer via Twitter on Sunday. He is also reported to have offers from Georgia, Arkansas, Auburn and Tennessee. The rising junior is rated as a four-star prospect by 247Sports, who also have him ranked as the 2nd-best inside linebacker prospect in the country for the 2023 recruiting class and the 41st-best overall prospect in the country.
