Major League Baseball teams announced 60-man rosters for the upcoming season, which begins with spring training later this week as well a 60-game regular season on July 23.
At least seven Florida State baseball players will be in MLB camps, with one making the jump just two years after his career in garnet and gold.
The Seattle Mariners will have Cal Raleigh (2016-18) as one of their catchers. Raleigh split the season between Single-A Modesto and Double-AA Arkansas, hitting a combined .251 with 29 home runs, 25 doubles, 82 RBI and 64 runs scored.
The Tampa Bay Rays will feature left-hander Sean Gilmartin (2009-11) and infielder Taylor Walls (2015-17) as well as manager Kevin Cash (1997-99). Walls split the 2019 season between Single-A Charlotte and Double-A Montgomery, hitting a combined .270 with 10 home runs, 23 doubles, 46 RBI and 64 runs.
The Baltimore Orioles will have DJ Stewart (2013-15) as one of their outfielders. Stewart hit .238 with four home runs, 15 RBI and 15 runs with Baltimore in 2019.
The St. Louis Cardinals will have John Nogowski (2012-14) in camp. In Triple-A Memphis last season, Nogowski hit .295 with 15 home runs, 22 doubles, 75 RBI and 77 runs and his 69 walks helped contribute to a .413 on-base percentage.
San Francisco and Arizona have not announced their rosters but both teams will have FSU stars in camp. Buster Posey hit .257 with seven home runs, 24 doubles and 38 RBI for the Giants in 2019. Luke Weaver was 4-3 with a 2.94 ERA and 69 strikeouts in 64.1 innings.
