Quote book: David Johnson on Hill, Jameis Winston on Milton

FSU and NFL defensive back Bryant McFadden, who is now working for CBSSports.com, hosted a National Signing Day show on Wednesday night. Below are a few quotes from recruiting coordinator David Johnson and the full video is at the end of the quote book.

David Johnson

“We definitely needed some playmakers. We needed some guys who understand the standard. We had (Destyn) Hill sign with us. Big-time playmaker. We’re just ready to get rolling.

“One of the biggest things is seeing how hard he (Hill) works. We understood that part about him. He has very strong hands. He can track the ball well. Catching the deep ball and stretching the defense is really big for a big-time receiver. And he’s been clocked at 4.3 at a number of camps.”

Jameis Winston

“The first thing you look at in a quarterback is his ability to win football games. … This guy is a champion. He’s looking to put the Seminoles back on top. He can make every throw on the field and he also allows our offense to do everything that we can by running the football and making big plays with his arm.”

McKenzie Milton

“Coach (Josh) Storms has been putting us through some good workouts. Running good, lifting good. Nothing more than muscle soreness. I’m ready to rock out. Super excited.”

“These past two years, looking at it from a different lens, being on the headset, watching on the sideline, seeing everything that goes into the game plans. … Coach Norvell and coach Dillingham, they’ve been good on listening to me on what I’m comfortable with running. I’m excited to get rolling with spring ball.”

“It really only took me about five days to figure out this is where I wanted to be (after entering the transfer portal). … I feel like we’re not far off. I knew we had some talent coming in here. I believe in coach Norvell, just competing against him when he was at Memphis.”
