Polite leads balanced effort as FSU routs Lipscomb

Florida State bounced back with a decisive victory. And the veterans bounced back, too.

Senior guard Anthony Polite scored a career-high 25 points on 10 of 14 shooting, while Wyatt Wilkes had 13 points and Malik Osborne added 12 points in the Seminoles’ 97-60 win over Lipscomb on Wednesday night.

Polite added four steals and five assists as the Seminoles halted a three-game slide. His previous career high was 22 against Colorado in the NCAA Tournament in March 2021.

Five players scored in double figures for FSU (6-4). Cam’Ron Fletcher added 12 points and five rebounds in 20 minutes. John Butler Jr. added 11 points — making 3 of 4 shots from beyond the arc — and added seven rebounds in 19 minutes.

Caleb Mills added eight points, six assists and three rebounds.

The Seminoles shot 37 of 70 (52.9 percent) from the floor and 14 of 26 (53.8 percent) from 3-point range.

Jacob Ognacevic had 20 points and nine rebounds for Lipscomb, which dropped to 5-7.
