Osceola Zoom Happy Hour: Kurt Unglaub

Please join Jerry, Bob and myself on Thursday for our weekly Osceola Zoom Happy Hour. Our featured guest this week will be former FSU wide receiver Kurt Unglaub. The Tallahassee native starred at Leon High School before becoming a member of Coach Bobby Bowden’s first FSU recruiting class in 1976.

Kurt led FSU in receiving yardage as a true freshman, racking up 665 yards on 33 catches including four touchdowns. He would go on to finish his career with 69 receptions for 1,261 yards and 10 touchdowns. He saw action in for the Seminoles in five different seasons but his 1979 season was cut short after breaking his foot three games into the season. Kurt was able to redshirt after that and returned in 1980 for his senior season. He is of course famously known for catching what would eventually turn out to be the winning touchdown in a 36-22 upset win against the No. 3 ranked Pitt Panthers, who were led by quarterback Dan Marino and linebacker Hugh Green.

FSU would compile a record of 44-14 over Kurt’s career as Seminole. The list of quarterbacks he played with at FSU include Jimmy Black, Jimmy Jordan, Wally Woodham and Rick Stockstill.

Please join us Thursday night at 6 p.m. to catch up with Kurt to see what he has been doing since his playing days and as he shares some of his favorite stories and memories from his time as a Seminole.

Only Seminole with two touchdowns from scrimmage over 90 yards. Had a 91 yard reception from Jimmy Black in the snow at North Texas State and a week later a 96 yard bomb from Jimmy Jorden to end the 1976 season against Va Tech.
