Olsson’s overtime goal lifts FSU to College Cup

Beata Olsson scored in overtime as the Florida State soccer team defeated Michigan 1-0 on Friday afternoon in the Elite Eight.

Olsson scored off a loose ball that was deflected in front of the net after 99 minutes of scoreless soccer. A Florida transfer, Olsson has scored 14 goals in the fall season.

It was the Seminoles’ sixth straight postseason win, which included a run to the ACC Tournament championships.

Cristina Roque tied her season-high with four saves.

FSU (20-1-2) will next play in the College Cup against the Arkansas-Rutgers winner on Dec. 3 in Santa Clara, Calif. The other quarterfinals are Duke-Santa Clara and South Carolina-BYU. A full printable bracket can be viewed here.

The Seminoles won national titles in 2014 and ’18. They are making a 12th appearance in the College Cup, including the eighth time in 11 years.
