The road to repeat hit an early dead end.
Chyenne Factor hit a solo home run and four Florida State errors allowed Oklahoma State to score runs in the third and sixth innings as the Cowgirls advanced to the Women’s College World Series with a 3-2 win on Saturday.
Leslie Farris had an RBI single in the fifth inning but the Seminoles couldn’t put together a big inning to challenge Oklahoma State. FSU had runners in scoring position in the fifth but Cali Harrod struck out and Carsyn Gordon lined out to short to end the inning.
Anna Shelnutt added a solo home run in the seventh inning.
But FSU managed just five hits but the Nos. 2-5 hitters were a combined 0 for 11.
Meghan King earned the start for FSU, allowing two runs (one earned) with two strikeouts.
Oklahoma State won the first game before FSU bounced back in Game 2 on Friday. The Seminoles had rallied in the 2018 Super Regionals and WCWS but couldn’t rekindle the “Cardiac Kids” magic of a year ago again on Saturday afternoon.
The Cowgirls are making their first trip to the WCWS since 2011.
