Longtime Florida State assistant coach Odell Haggins isn’t leaving anytime soon.

Not if athletics director David Coburn has anything to say about it.

“Odell is not going anywhere,” FSU athletics director David Coburn said. “Not without me going with him.”

The 52-year-old Haggins has been an FSU assistant coach since 1994, nearly all of them focusing on defensive tackles. In 2019 he took on the responsibilities of working with the entire defensive front.

Haggins went 2-0 as an interim head coach in 2017 and then 2-1 this fall.

On Sunday evening, Haggins confirmed that he would coach FSU against Arizona State in the Sun Bowl in El Paso, Texas, on Dec. 31.

Coburn said that Haggins and coach Mike Norvell would talk further. Norvell said after Memphis’ game on Saturday that he planned to coach the Tigers’ game, the Cotton Bowl on Dec. 28, but on Sunday he took a step back and said that the bowl coaching assignments needed to be settled in a few days.
