Notes: Norvell discusses spring game format

Florida State wrapped up practice No. 11 on Tuesday, going indoors for most of the session as a thunderstorm hit campus late in the afternoon. FSU coach Mike Norvell said he has decided on a format that he thinks will be beneficial for Saturday’s spring game.

“We’re not going to break into two teams, separate teams,” Norvell said. “We’re just going to be an offense-defense setup. We’re going to get good on good work. It will be very similar to last year. So we’re going to be game situation in how we operate, how we flow and we’ll have some fun things that we’re going to do.”

FSU will practice on Thursday and Friday before the spring game on Saturday at 5 p.m. (ACC Network). The Seminoles will also hold a final practice, the 15th of the spring, on Tuesday, April 12.

Darius Washington likely out

Norvell said after practice that a few players are dealing with injuries, including offensive lineman Darius Washington. “He’ll probably be out for the Saturday (game) but we’ll definitely have him back as we get rolling here this summer,” Norvell said.

Winston Wright returns to FSU

Wide receiver Winston Wright Jr. was a passenger in a car accident in Savannah, Ga., during spring break but Norvell said he has returned to the team.

“He’s been in meetings,” Norvell said. “Doing a really good job, just continuing on his rehab, excited about just having him here. He’s in there, making sure he gets his mental reps. I know I stressed just how grateful I was the day that he got back into Tallahassee and it was a real joy. One day to get settled and then, all of a sudden, there he was back in meetings learning and he’s excited about his return as well.”
