Florida State (28-19, 19-14 ACC) wraps up the regular season at NC State in a three-game series beginning Thursday at 6:30 p.m. All three games against the Wolfpack will stream live on ACC Network Extra.
FSU’s rotation will remain as it did last weekend against Clemson since Parker Messick missed his Friday start due to back soreness:
Thursday, 6:30 p.m. — FSU: LHP Bryce Hubbart (6-4, 3.26 ERA) vs. NC State: RHP Reid Johnston (6-2, 4.29 ERA)
Friday, 6:30 p.m. — FSU: RHP Conor Grady (5-2, 3.84 ERA) vs. NC State: RHP Sam Highfill (4-2, 4.65 ERA)
Saturday, 1 p.m. — FSU: LHP Parker Messick (6-2, 2.78 ERA) vs. NC State: TBA
Here are a few more notes on the Noles:
Elijah Cabell has 14 home runs this season, but 13 have come since he returned to the lineup on March 27 against Wake Forest. Cabell was hitting .242 entering that game and is now hitting .287.
Tyler Martin has reached base in 57 of his 61 career starts. He has a .465 on-base percentage, which is fourth in the ACC. Matheu Nelson has an 18-game on-base streak. Nelson’s 20 home runs leads the ACC, with Wake’s Bobby Seymour closing in at 19 home runs.
Davis Hare has three saves but is also 11 for 36 (.306) with three doubles, a triple and a home run. At Notre Dame, he delivered a two-run single. Against Clemson it was a pinch-hit two-run single that led to FSU’s 8-6 win on Sunday.
FSU won’t be a regional host but D1baseball.com projects the Seminoles will play in Ruston, La., at a regional hosted by Louisiana Tech. It’s worth mentioning that La. Tech is viewed as the No. 16 national seed by the site, which means FSU is held in high regard as the top No. 2 seed. The Seminoles would rather be at home but La. Tech is potentially a better option than an SEC site like Gainesville or Nashville.
The Seminoles have won 15 games against Top 25 teams, the most in the ACC. And they have been quite good on the road this year, taking two of three at Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech and Notre Dame as well as a sweep of Miami
FSU leads the ACC with a 3.20 ERA. Batters are hitting just .220 against Seminoles pitching.
The Wolfpack have won 22 of 27 games while leading the conference in batting average (.289) and defense (.985). NC State’s Jonny Butler, the reigning ACC Player of the Week, leads the ACC with a .387 batting average.
