Nelson’s four RBI helps power FSU to series win at Miami

The Florida State baseball team capped an impressive week with a series win over a rival.

Matheu Nelson had a two-run home run and a two-run single as Florida State routed No. 6 Miami 9-1 on Saturday night, helping the Seminoles take the first two games of the series.

Nelson, Robby Martin and Parker Messick each had two hits for the Seminoles (9-6, 6-5 ACC). Tyler Martin also walked twice and scored a pair of runs.

It has been quite the week for FSU, which routed Florida and now has secured dominating wins over Miami as well as the series win.

Bryce Hubbart threw four innings, allowing just an earned run in the first inning. Hubbart struck out eight hitters and scattered four hits and two walks.

Clayton Kwiatkowski pitched a scoreless seventh and eighth inning.

Miami fell to 9-6, 5-5.

FSU will go for the sweep on Sunday at 1 p.m. (stream on ACC Network Extra). The Seminoles have now won ACC series against Virginia, Virginia Tech and Miami.
