Nelson, Messick earn D1baseball.com All-American honors

The honors continue to accumulate for Florida State catcher Matheu Nelson.

Nelson was named a first-team All-American by D1baseball.com on Monday afternoon. The redshirt sophomore hit .330 with a .436 on-base percentage and 23 home runs and 66 RBI.

Messick went 8-2 with a 3.10 ERA. The ACC pitcher of the year was also named to D1baseball.com’s third-team. He had 126 strikeouts in 90 innings.

Among the first-teasers honored are Mississippi State outfielder Tanner Allen and Vanderbilt’s Jack Leiter and Kumar Rocker. Arkansas pitcher Kevin Kopps, who had a 0.90 ERA with 131 strikeouts in 89.2 innings, was named player of the year. The complete D1baseball.com All-American teams can be viewed here.
