A.J. Lytton “has been removed” from the Florida State football team, a school spokesperson confirmed on Wednesday afternoon.
The defensive back played in 12 games, starting against Alabama State, in 2019. He recorded 14 tackles and forced a fumble, with six tackles coming in the win over Alabama State.
Lytton would have been a rising junior in 2020. It’s not clear why Lytton has left the team or if he was dismissed by coach Mike Norvell.
FSU is deep at defensive back going into the first season under Norvell. The Seminoles have returning starters like Asante Samuel Jr., Hamsah Nasirildeen and Cyrus Fagan and Jaiden Lars-Woodbey has moved back to safety after spending time at linebacker.
There are also talented young prospects like Akeem Dent and Travis Jay as well as three 2020 signees in Demorie Tate, Jadarius Green-McKnight and Sidney Williams.
