Live updates: Early signing day

Florida State is expected to sign a large chunk of its 2021 class on Wednesday, the first day of the early signing period. We’ll update this with prospects who have signed their national letters of intent:

7:18 a.m. — DB Shyheim Brown. This is significant in that FSU is announcing him as a defensive back. The versatile defender could also develop into a linebacker

7:20 a.m. — DB Kevin Knowles. Osceola recruiting analyst Charles Fishbein thinks Knowles could be the best of a DB group that also includes Hunter Washington and Omarion Cooper

7:23 a.m. — DE Patrick Payton. After he backed off the Nebraska pledge, Payton chose FSU. The Seminoles need a speedy edge rusher and they got him early at the start of the early signing period.

7:25 a.m. — TE Koby Gross. Not much tape to be found on the junior-college prospect who obviously didn’t play this fall with the JUCO season being shut down. He is viewed as a physical blocker and could move to the offensive line.

8:09 a.m. — OLB Jordan Eubanks. He is viewed as a hybrid safety/linebacker who has good height (6-3) and length.

8:24 a.m. — DB Hunter Washington. The highest-rated signee in FSU’s class. Good footwork and understanding of leverage. May be a nickel corner.

8:29 a.m. — OL Rod Orr was expected to sign at noon but got his NLI in early. Orr has only played right tackle for two years and is expected to flourish once he can get into a college strength and conditioning program.

8:57 a.m. — DE Byron Turner. Could eventually slide inside to tackle. He is listed at 235 pounds.

9:06 a.m. — WR Joshua Burrell. The Seminoles need receiving help. Badly. Burrell is 6-2 and offers a very good target for the future.

9:36 a.m. — TE Jackson West. At 6-4 and 230 pounds, West has good size, consistent hands and has the ability to pick up yards after the catch.

10:02 a.m. — CB Omarion Cooper. Aggressive, good technique and footwork. Cooper is considered one of the top corners in the state.

11:49 a.m. — DE Shambre Jackson. A quality pass rusher who could also slide inside to tackle.

11:51 a.m. — DE Joshua Farmer. He was FSU’s first commitment of the 2021 class and stuck with the Seminoles.

Noon — OL Bryson Estes. A versatile lineman who could be a contributor early in his FSU career.

George Wilson has picked FSU. The Virginia Beach (Va.) Green Run four-star defensive end backed off his South Carolina commitment and picked FSU, reportedly over Auburn and North Carolina. the 6-foot-5, 214-pound Wilson has not sent his NLI to FSU yet.

The Osceola staff will hold a special Happy Hour on Wednesday from noon-1 p.m. ET to discuss the signees (register in advance here).
