LeRoy Butler is one step (or should we say Lambeau Leap?) away from a spot in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
The Florida State defensive back and longtime Green Bay Packers star has been named one of 15 finalists for induction, the hall announced on Tuesday. Peyton Manning, Calvin Johnson, Charles Woodson, Tony Boselli, Zach Thomas, John Lynch and Ronde Barber are also among the finalists.
Butler was inducted into the FSU athletics hall of fame in 2001. He had 194 career tackles and nine interceptions from 1986-89, including 94 tackles and seven interceptions in a senior season in which he was an All-American.
He had 889 tackles and 38 interceptions from 1990-2001 in Green Bay, helping the Packers to a Super Bowl title in 1996.
