With an outstanding season on the court that saw her earn ACC Defensive Player of the Year honors, junior Taryn Knuth has also been recognized for her work in the classroom as the middle blocker posted a perfect 4.0 GPA during the fall semester, to go along with her 3.956 cumulative GPA in Sport Management, and has been named the 2019 ACC Volleyball Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
It is just the second time in program history that the Seminoles have had the ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year, as Knuth joins Brianna Barry from 2009.
“Taryn is an amazing student-athlete,” said FSU head coach Chris Poole. “While she has great volleyball skills, she is also a great student and team leader. I am very proud that we had four players recognized for their academics and excited that Taryn has earned this award.”
Knuth was joined on the All-ACC Academic Team by Emma Clothier, Taylor Roberts and Madison Sullivan. It marked the third time that Knuth was recognized by the conference, while it is the first time that Clothier, Roberts and Sullivan have been named to the All-ACC Academic Team.
