JUCO DE Jaden Jones commits to FSU

The first football uniform Jaden Jones wore was the garnet and gold of the Montgomery Seminoles pee wee team. Jones will again wear those colors in 2023 as the Hutchinson (Kan.) defensive end committed to Florida State on Saturday afternoon.

The 6-foot-6, 240-pound Jones is from Montgomery, Ala., and took a redshirt at Hutchinson in 2022 to focus on academics and reshape his body. Jones first visited FSU in May.

“They just have been pushing for me hard,” Jones told the Osceola. “When I took my unofficial (visit) we went over the defense and it was a perfect fit for me. I see myself playing there.”

Jones said he weighed 280 pounds after his senior year and it was “a whole bunch of bad weight.” He slimmed all the way down to 210 pounds, took a redshirt and put some good weight back on his body.

Timmi Norling of JuCo Football Scouting told the Osceola that Jones is a rising star. Norling thinks Jones will be the No. 1 junior college defensive end in the 2023 class. Hutchinson coach Drew Dallas said Jones’ GPA is over a 3.0 and that he has worked hard in the classroom, weight room and as a member of Hutchinson’s scout team in the fall of 2021.

Jones said the first pee wee team he played for was the Montgomery Seminoles. “It was the first uniform I ever put on,” Jones said. “We had the same exact uniform as Florida State.”

The staff’s recent success with Jermaine Johnson, who was a juco star at Independence, Kan., before transferring to Georgia and then FSU, certainly helped the effort in bringing Jones to Tallahassee. Jones said coaching, culture and a family atmosphere were important factors to him in the process.

Jones will visit FSU again for Clemson (Oct. 15) or Florida (Nov. 25) games during bye weeks in Hutchinson’s schedule. He plays to enroll early in January.

Quindarrius Jones commits to FSU

Meridian (Miss.) safety Quindarrius Jones made his commitment to FSU later on Saturday afternoon. Jones is 6-foot-2 and 187 pounds. He is a 2023 prospect and has not been rated by the recruiting services.

Jones has played safety, linebacker and receiver in high school. He attended FSU’s camps last weekend and was quick to make the commitment.

“I want y’all to know that I am committing to Florida State University. I’m official Nole,” Jones posted on his Twitter.
