Morgan Jones had 16 points and 10 rebounds as Florida State picked up a road win over North Carolina, 61-51 on Thursday night in Chapel Hill, N.C.
Bianca Jackson added 19 points, three rebounds and three steals for the Seminoles (6-4, 5-4 ACC). Jackson was also 6 for 6 from the free-throw line.
The win marked the Seminoles sixth straight win over North Carolina in a streak that dates back to a 94-63 home win on Feb. 14, 2016.
“I’m just so proud of what we were able to do tonight,” FSU interim head coach Brooke Wyckoff said. “On the road again after a two-game skid and without Kourtney Weber; the rest of our players found a way to gut this one out.”
Sophomore Sammie Puisis finished one rebound shy from a double-double, scoring 10 points and pulling down nine rebounds. She also hit her 70th career three-pointer in her 41st game played – making her second fastest in school history to reach the mark.
FSU shot 21 of 55 (38.2 percent) from the floor, 3 of 15 (20 percent) from 3-point range and 16 of 23 (69.6 percent) from the free-throw line. The Seminoles took care of the ball, limiting the turnovers to just nine.
Next up for FSU is a game at Miami on Sunday at 1 p.m. (ESPNU).
