Jackson scores 18 but FSU women fall at ND

Bianca Jackson scored 18 points but the Florida State women’s basketball team couldn’t overcome a sluggish start, suffering a 72-64 loss at Notre Dame on Thursday night.

Valencia Myers scored 13 points and had five rebounds, while Morgan Jones added eight points and seven rebounds for the Seminoles (9-7, 8-7 ACC).

Maddy Westbeld scored 17 points and pulled down 12 rebounds for Notre Dame (10-8, 8-6).

FSU shot 26 of 69 (37.7 percent) from the floor and 9 of 26 (34.6 percent) from 3-point range.

Notre Dame opened strong, jumping to a 17-7 lead after the first period. The Irish shot 26 of 53 (49.1 percent) from the floor and 3 of 14 (21.4 percent) from 3-point range.

There was a big disparity at the free-throw line: Notre Dame was 17 of 25 (68 percent) while FSU was 3 of 5 (60 percent).
