Kalei Harding had an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh, scoring Amaya Ross as the Florida State softball team walked off with a 5-4 win over Clemson on Thursday night.
Harding’s clutch hit capped FSU’s comeback from a 2-0 deficit in a nationally televised ACC showdown. Sydney Sherrill smacked a two-run double to tie the game in the bottom of the fifth, scoring Kaley Mudge and Jahni Kerr. Harding followed with a two-run home run to go in front 4-2. The home run was Harding’s 11th of the season and ninth in conference play, which leads the conference.
But Clemson added home runs in the sixth, by Valerie Cagle, and in the seventh, by Alia Logoleo.
FSU improved to 41-5. Kathryn Sandercock started and pitched 6.1 innings, recording eight strikeouts while allowing four runs. Danielle Watson (13-4) entered the circle in the top of the seventh inning, securing the final two outs by strikeouts.
