Deuce Spann is coming back to the Sunshine State. The Illinois receiver announced his transfer to Florida State just after midnight on Saturday, as the St. Petersburg native adds a third transfer receiver as part of the 2022 class.
The 6-foot-4, 195-pound Spann caught five passes for 124 yards and two touchdowns in 2021. While he wasn’t used much at Illinois, Spann was a deep threat with catches of 45, 33 and 31 yards last fall.
Spann, who went in the transfer portal on Dec. 22, was a freshman in 2020 and could have three or four years of eligibility at FSU.
A three-star quarterback in high school, Spann made the move to receiver in his first year at Illinois. He also endured a coaching change, from Lovie Smith to Brett Bielema.
Spann is the third transfer receiver to join FSU this offseason, following Mycah Pittman (Oregon) and Johnny Wilson (Arizona State).
