Florida State interim head coach Odell Haggins and Arizona State coach Herm Edwards met with the media on Monday, a day before the teams face off in the Sun Bowl. Below are some highlights of what Haggins said:

On Marvin Wilson and Tamorrion Terry’s return in 2020: “They told me a few days ago. That’s awesome. The kids love Florida State University. … That tells you a lot. Unfinished business. Those kids, they know what we have at Florida State, what we’re building.”

On Wilson’s decision: “I don’t know what Marvin was hearing. I let Marvin and his mother make that decision. … I’m an advisor, a father figure to him. I stay out of that. I’m a father figure to him first.”

On advising players on NFL decisions: “I can’t tell a kid to go or stay.”

On being an interim head coach: “God has given me a lot of strengths, dealing with people, learning how to motivate kids. It’s a job to me. Something I love to do.”

On Arizona State freshman quarterback Jayden Daniels: “He knows the offense. He understands the offense. That kid – pressure doesn’t bother him. He’s smooth under pressure.”

On the FSU coaching staff: “I’m proud of this staff. They’ve been professionals. … This staff has done everything that I asked them to do. I take my hat off to them.”
