FSU women’s golf up to fourth at NCAA Championships

The Florida State women’s golf team shot 3-under on Saturday to move up to fourth place at the NCAA Championships in Scottsdale, Ariz.

Stanford (7-under), Duke (3-under) and Texas (1-over) are the only teams ahead of the Seminoles, who are at 7-over.

Beatrice Wallin shot a 71 on Saturday and is tied for 11th place at even par. Alice Hodge shot 2-under and is at 1-over, in 17th place. Charlotte Heath shot 1-under and is at tied for 22nd place at 2-over for the tournament.

“All of the girls played well, really well,” Coach Amy Bond said.  “I’m super-proud of the way they hung in there all day long.  And, we made some birdies today.  The conditions were much better for us today than they were yesterday. We took advantage of what the golf course gave us, and with little to no wind, which was the opposite of yesterday.”

Florida State carded 15 birdies in the second round as compared to seven in Friday’s first round.  The Seminoles totaled more birdies on their front nine on Saturday (eight) than they did during their entire round on Friday (seven).
