After a disappointing start to the series at Louisville, the Florida State baseball team bounced back on Friday night.
Mat Nelson had two home runs and Mike Salvatore went 4 for 5 for the Seminoles in a 14-3 win over the No. 8 Cardinals.
Robby Martin went 3 for 6 for FSU (35-19, 17-11 ACC), which pounded out 16 hits.
After suffering a 14-1 loss to the Cardinals on Thursday, the Friday win could significantly improve FSU’s resume for the postseason. And a victory on Saturday in the regular-season finale (1 p.m., stream on ACC Network Extra) would likely all but wrap up a spot in the NCAA Tournament in Mike Martin’s final season.
C.J. Van Eyk pitched six innings, recording eight strikeouts and giving up three earned runs. The sophomore right-hander now has 103 strikeouts this season.
Jonah Scolaro pitched three innings to pick up the save.
Louisville dropped to 42-13.
The ACC Baseball Tournament will run May 21-26 in Durham, N.C.
