FSU softball picked to win ACC

The Florida State Softball team was recognized by the ACC on Wednesday by placing two student-athletes on the 2022 Preseason All-ACC Team. The Seminoles were also selected to finish first in the ACC as voted on by the ACC coaches.

The Seminoles, who advanced to their 11th NCAA Women’s College World Series last season and played for the national championship, received eight first-place votes and tallied 137 points.

Sydney Sherrill and Kathryn Sandercock were among the 14 players selected to the Preseason All-ACC Team. This marks the fourth straight season that Sherrill has been named to the Preseason All-ACC Team and the first time for Sandercock after being named to the All-ACC First Team at the end of last season.

As a team, the Seminoles earned 137 points and eight of the 13 first-place votes in the 2022 Preseason ACC Coaches Poll and have been selected as the preseason favorite in the ACC for the ninth consecutive season. Florida State has won 17 ACC Championships, seven of the last eight regular-season division/conference titles and six of the last seven tournament championships.

Florida State kicks off the 2022 season ranked No. 6 by USA Softball. The Seminoles begin the season at home on Feb. 11 as the Noles host Mercer, Kennesaw State and Loyola in the JoAnne Graf Classic. All four games that weekend will be streamed live on ACC Network Extra.
