The No. 6 Florida State softball team (2-0) opened the season with two victories on Saturday with a 12-0 win over Mercer (0-2) followed by a 4-0 win over Kennesaw State (1-1) in game two.

Danielle Watson started on the mound for the Seminoles and pitched four innings allowing one hit and no runs with eight strikeouts.
Emma Wilson pitched the fifth and final inning and recorded zero hits, zero runs, and two strikeouts.
FSU earned 13 hits in 24 at-bats highlighted by two triples and one double. Continuing the success from last season, the Noles had three stolen bases including two by Amaya Ross as a pinch runner.
The Florida State offense started quickly with two hits and one run in the first inning.
Two home runs by Kaley Mudge and Mack Leonard highlighted the second inning for the Noles. This was Mudge’s first career home run and Leonard’s first home run as a Seminole. Leonard started her career at FSU 3-3 against the Bears.
The Garnet and Gold recorded seven runs and six hits in the third including another home run by Kalei Harding.
Watson concluded her game with her eighth strikeout in the top of the fourth. The Noles scored another run from a single by Chloe Culp which ran home Jahni Kerr.

Kathryn Sandercock pitched a complete game and allowed five hits and zero runs with eight strikeouts.
After an empty first inning, Devyn Flaherty launched a double into left-center field, which brought home Bethaney Keen. Flaherty then scored off a single by Josie Muffley.
Both teams went scoreless in the third inning, but freshman Michaela Edenfield notched her first career hit for the Noles.
The Florida State defense had an efficient fourth inning as they earned three outs in four pitches. Pinch hitter Hallie Wacaser hit a double to get on base and scored on a hit from Kaley Mudge.
In the fifth, Sydney Sherrill advanced to first base on four balls and was replaced by pinch runner Amaya Ross who scored on a sacrifice fly from Kalei Harding.
Sandercock struck out two batters each in the sixth and the seventh innings to secure the win.
