FSU softball opens vs. UCLA on Thursday in WCWS

The Florida State softball team will open Women’s CWS play on Thursday against UCLA at 9 p.m. (ESPN).

FSU (44-10-1) is the only ACC school in the field of eight for the WCWS after Virginia Tech was eliminated by the Bruins. This is the Seminoles’ first trip to the WCWS since capturing the title in 2018 and the fourth trip since coach Lonni Alameda arrived in Tallahassee in 2009.

The double-elimination WCWS begins on Thursday. Two teams will advance to the best-of-three championship series, which will begin on Monday
