C.J. Van Eyk pitched six shutout innings, striking out 10, as the Florida State baseball team routed NC State 11-0 on Friday night in the ACC Tournament.

Van Eyk (9-3) allowed four walks and one hit but the Wolfpack couldn’t put together any runs against the sophomore right-hander. FSU finished off NC State in seven innings by mercy rule.

J.C. Flowers had a solo home run and a pair of RBI singles for the Seminoles (36-21). Drew Mendoza and Robby Martin each had a pair of RBI singles as FSU pounded out 16 hits.

FSU went 1-1 in ACC Tournament pool play. Wake Forest won the pool and will play in the semifinals on Saturday.

A win over RPI No. 18 NC State helps FSU’s postseason argument. The Seminoles don’t have much momentum late in the season but now await the NCAA Selection Show on Monday at noon.

Noteworthy: Flowers (52), Martin (51) and Mendoza (50) all reached the 50-RBI mark Friday. … Van Eyk has 106 on the season, one more than teammate Drew Parrish for the team lead. It is the first time since at least 2003 that two Seminoles have recorded at least 100 strikeouts in the same season. … Florida State is the first major conference team in 2019 to have two players throw 100 strikeouts.
