FSU coach Mike Norvell and his staff still have plenty of work to do to fill out the rest of their 2020 recruiting class but that hasn’t stopped them from starting work on the Seminoles’ 2021 class.
Early indications are that FSU will place a premium on recruiting the state of Louisiana. And why not? The state is loaded with talent and the new FSU football staff has strong ties to the New Orleans area. Both offensive line coach Alex Atkins and running backs coach David Johnson both spent three years at Tulane (not at the same time) as assistant coaches. Johnson also spent eight years in Louisiana as a high school coach and is also Norvell’s recruiting coordinator.
2021 WR Tyrese Johnson (6-1, 190) has announced via his Twitter that he received an offer from FSU on Wednesday. 247Sports has reported that Johnson has been offered by the Seminoles as well. He is rated as a three-star prospect and is ranked as the 82nd best wide receiver in the 2021 recruiting class in 247’s composite rankings. Johnson attends and plays football at Booker T. Washington High School in New Orleans.
Arkansas, Kansas, Louisiana Tech and Tennessee have also been reported to offer Johnson.
Multiple media outlets including 247Sports are reporting that 2021 wide receiver Destyn Pazon also has been offered by FSU. He rated as a four-star prospect and is ranked as the 35th best wide receiver in the class of 2021 in 247’s composite rankings. Pazon is a burner having been laser-timed as running a 4.32 40-yard dash at a recent recruiting combine.
In addition to FSU, Pazon is reported to have offers from Alabama, Arkansas, Baylor and Colorado.
