FSU Needs for 2022 Class: Offense

In part 1 of Florida State’s needs for the class of 2022, we will focus on the offensive side of the football. FSU still needs to improve the offensive line. With only a few high school signees in the class of 2021 the Seminoles will look to sign as many as five or six offensive linemen in 2022. FSU would also like to come out of the 2022 class with at least one high school quarterback and there are many talented signal callers to choose from. Running back is another position they would like to land a star player. If FSU can show some promise on the field in 2021, the offensive class has the potential to be very good. We will continue to add more names to the list as prospects continue to be evaluated and offered.

Quarterback (1)

FSU has a major need to land a top-flight high school quarterback in the class of 2022. The Seminoles missed out on a high school quarterback in 2021. The loss of Luke Altmyer was offset with the commitment of grad transfer McKenzie Milton. We expect FSU to sign at least one quarterback. Jordan Travis, Tate Rodemaker and Chubba Purdy will get the first chance to replace Milton in 2022.

On the Recruiting Board:

·         AJ Duffy: (4 star) 6-2, 205  (Rancho Verde-Transfer to IMG)

·         Sam Horn: (4 star) 6-4, 200 (Suwanee, Ga.)

·         Maalik Murphy: (5 star) 6-4, 225 (Junipero Serra, Calif.)

·         Cade Klubnik: (4 star) 6-3, 180 (Austin, Texas)

·         Nicco Marchiol: (4 star) 6-2, 220 (Hamilton HS, Ariz.)

·         Braden Davis: (4 star) 6-5, 200 (Lake Minneola, HS)

·         MJ Morris: (4 star) 6-1, 175 (Pace Academy, GA)

Running back (2)

FSU has Jashaun Corbin, Ja’Khi Douglas, Deonte Sheffield, Lawrance Toafilli, Corey Wren and DJ Williams on scholarship. Toafilli showed the most upside in 2020. With running backs not having a long shelf life, Corbin could play one more year of college football before taking a chance in the NFL. Ideally, FSU would like to sign an elite running back in 2022.

On the Recruiting Board:

·         Terrance Gibbs: (4 star) 6-0, 190 (Winter Park, HS)

·         OJ Ross: (3 star) 5-10, 170 (Cocoa, HS)

·         Maurice Jones: (3 star) 5-9, 185 (Killian, HS)

· Yann Ulrich: (Not Ranked) 6-0, 210 (Miami Edison, HS)

·         Jaylon Glover: (3 star) 5-9, 195 (Lake Gibson, HS)

Wide receiver (3)

FSU added grad transfer Andrew Parchment to the mix. He comes from Kansas, where the former Cypress Bay football player made an impact for the Jayhawks. He brings a big, physical, reliable receiver to a team that lacks a standout at this time. Along with Parchment, senior receiver Keyshawn Helton should be back to full strength in 2021. Helton did not show the same burst before a leg injury he sustained in Oct. 2019. This upcoming season may be the final one for guys like Ontaria Wilson, who will have been on campus four years this fall. Jordan Young will also need to finally live up to his potential. FSU will try and add two or three more receivers in the class of 2022. Quincey McAdoo gives them a great start with his early commitment.
