Florida State Athletics and Seminole Boosters, Inc. announced today that ticketing for the 2020 Seminole football season will be digital only. FSU moved its football season ticket deadline back to May 1 to accommodate the many challenges related to the coronavirus restrictions. As a result, FSU’s online seat relocation, which cannot take place until after the deadline, will not allow the necessary time to print and ship regular paper season tickets for the upcoming season.
“Our ticketing, marketing and IT offices have been working with Seminole Boosters for the better part of the last two years on the switch to digital ticketing,” said Florida State Director of Athletics David Coburn. “This is clearly where the industry is headed, and it provides many advantages to our supporters. The circumstances we find ourselves in make now the appropriate time to make the switch,”
Among many features that digital ticketing will allow FSU ticket purchasers to access is the ability to transfer tickets at the touch of a button using the recipient’s cell phone number. The new process will also eliminate many of the issues common to shipped paper tickets, including the need for an early lock-in for declaration of a shipping address, theft of delivered packages, delays in shipping and tickets lost in transit.
Florida State’s 2020 football tickets will now arrive via email with an embedded link in mid-August. Ticket holders can still transfer tickets via text, and customers will still be able to post and sell tickets on Stubhub.
