Florida State will have to wait another week before it sees the debut of the 2020-21 basketball season.
The FSU men’s opener against Gardner-Webb, which was set for Friday, has been postponed due to a COVID-19 case within that program. Gardner-Webb has also seen games against Duke and Georgia scrubbed. It’s possible FSU will face Gardner-Webb later in the season.
“The determination was made Tuesday after consultation with medical personnel and discussions between the two administrations,” a statement from FSU said on Tuesday afternoon.
FSU will now open on Dec. 2 against North Florida at the Donald L. Tucker Center. Tip time is set for 8 p.m. with TV information to come.
The FSU women also lost the season opener against Florida A&M when that program had to shut down the program for the season due to the coronavirus pandemic. FSU will now open against Florida on Sunday at noon (ACC Network).
