Florida State has made a steady climb up the Director’s Cup standings and is in the top 10 – with baseball still to be counted.
FSU is in eighth place overall, second in the ACC behind No. 6 Virginia, in the latest standings that were released on Wednesday. The top 5 consists of Stanford, Michigan, Texas, Florida and USC.
This represents a jump from where FSU was just a week ago – 14th place on June 6. And the Seminoles had been 15th in the mid-May standings.
The Seminoles have had a good spring, with a fifth-place finish in beach volleyball, ninth-place finish in softball, 10th-place finish in women’s track and field, and 12th-place finish in women’s golf leading the way. FSU also garnered top-20 finishes in men’s and women’s tennis as well as men’s track and field.
FSU is assured of a top-8 total in baseball as the program has made a surprising run to the College World Series. The Seminoles could surpass a few more schools once the baseball season concludes, especially considering that No. 7 UCLA is in striking distance and saw its baseball team eliminated in the Super Regionals.
Expect the final Director’s Cup standings for the 2018-19 athletics season to be released in the days following the CWS finals.
