FSU lands WR Devaughn Mortimer

Receiver Devaughn Mortimer of Fort Lauderdale Dillard High committed to Florida State on Saturday afternoon.

Osceola Recruiting Analyst and President of Elite Scouting Services Charles Fishbein rated as the 5th-best slot receiver prospect in Florida for the 2022 recruiting class.

“Mortimer is another receiver that is quickly going up the board,” said Fishbein. “He is a threat anytime is on the field. He can go the distance anytime he touches the football. He has quick feet and can make defenders miss in the open field. His ability to get to the edge and out run defenders is quite impressive.”

Arizona State, Kentucky, Penn State, Syracuse, Texas A&M and West Virginia have also offered Mortimer, according to Fishbein.

Mortimer is a 247Sports three-star prospect in the 2022 class. He received an offer from FSU a few days ago.

The 5-foot-11, 160-pound Mortimer caught 24 passes for 318 yards and five touchdowns in a shortened 2020 season.
